Overview

Provide the Feed the Kids program coordination as it relates to meal preparation, meal distribution, volunteers, cleanliness of food preparation and kitchen areas and service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise volunteers, drivers, route staff in the preparation and distribution of meals
  • Work with the warehouse staff in coordinating supervision of Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Bureau workers
  • Primarily work in the food prep area; be visible and responsive to volunteers. Make sure there is program staff presence in the food prep area at all times
  • Coordinate meal assembly and meal distribution
  • Be sure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned daily (create a checklist)
  • Monitor food inventory; adjust weekly orders as demand necessitates, making sure there is not an over abundance of inventory items
  • Monitor non-food supplies
  • Responsible for rotation of meat, cheese, bread and fruit on a daily basis
  • Communicate volunteer needs with the Community Outreach Programs Director and the Divisional Volunteer Coordinator
  • Prepare a sufficient amount of meat and cheese for next day
  • Ensure that all food is handled, stored and thawed according to department of Health standards
  • Act in a manner consistent with The Salvation Army Mission Statement to ensure its effective delivery of all services.
  • RELATIONSHIPS: Work together with the Community Outreach Programs Manager and the Distribution Center staff regarding the transportation of meals. Work in coordination with the route staff at each drop-off site to account for and distribute meals.

    SUPERVISION OF OTHERS: Volunteers and shared supervision of Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Bureau workers

    Qualifications

  • Have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and be approved to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  • Current ServSafe certification
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal skills
  • Good public relations skills
  • Ability to lift at least fifty pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • This is a seasonal position. Employment dates are from June 15, through August 2, 2020; Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. (Times may be adjusted due to work volume.)
